from what I understood from the game, this is her true form, as well as the hero's
the forms you see initially are their cursed forms, and in the good ending they are both free

in the bad ending the princess is free, but she does not recognise you

Boy oh boy I did not expect that ending. It didn't help that when I went to look up spoilers it told me that "in the bad ending where you don't collect the gems the Asterisk fails to save the princess, but if you do collect the gems he does and they're both so HAPPY!"

So when I saw THAT ending I pretty much freaked out. xD
