Let's do it to it by vaporotem Let's do it to it by vaporotem
Thing that started to bug me for the past.... long time....

I started to get confused with myself when it comes to my style and i think that also what stops me to move on and work on comic and other stuff with my original characters or with copyright characters :0

It always feel like the things i draw on the computer are NOT what i usually do on paper. The Digital world made me lose my loosened feeling i have because... well you know.... All those temping perfect lines programs offer you and the ability to Ctrl+Z make me lose my personality ;n;

I look at stuff i made for the past year and, yes, ofcourse i know it is minnnneee and i see my touch in it and faces/poses/coloring but It takes me SO MUCH TIME AND ENERGY to create those things while a quick sketch on a paper, that looks the same, takes me 2-5 minutes.

This picture above took me NO time to create and was so much fun! and they all look like the things i draw on papers!
LOOK HOW THE LINE IS FREE AND FLUID! You can tell there was no sketch under it, THIS is the sketch!
Than.. why do i feel like there is some kind of expectation of me not to draw like this... that the lines are not closed and graphic wise something is wrong in here....

"You should just draw the way you love to draw and what ever the hell you want" is always my motto but... i feel like im disappointing someone if i try to be "more myself"

HOLY CRAP i dont know why it suddenly fall on my head because of a Sonic picture haha ;_; Im confused by myself as well as you are if you dont understand what i mean by all what i've just wrote~
But i believe that i want to explore my "normal-not perfect" style more and maybe it will help me to figure myself even more and to do something other than Thinking about a cool idea to draw but scared to fail with it.

... tl;dr:

HI GUYS i drew Sonic and the gang from my story universe, if i ever put it on paper 8D

Sonic,Tails,Amy,Mighty,Mina&Bunnie© Sega/Archie

...srsly, you dont have to pay attention to everything i just wrote~

As weird as it sounds, I know how you feel just a bit.

Perfect lines are just so tempting, but then I look at it and feel like something's wrong with it, like stiffness and I don't even know and on how it's not me. I've drawn several attempts at a looser style and I just... liked it. AND NOT ONLY THAT, that's how I actually found out my own style. And ever since I broke my pen (not broken broke, just the tip stopped working and I now draw with the rubber and can only do this in SAI, PS defaults to the rubber function yadda yadda), it just feels more of a burden. safsaf I really should do something about it and yet I don't. I just prefer traditional sketches to digital media in a way as well.

I know it might feel weird, but have you actually tried to abdicate from the CTRL-Z function? You know, limit yourself to how you draw in real life when drawing on the tablet, using the rubber function more often. Putting a piece of paper on the tablet to have that feeling of actually drawing on paper. Using drawn traditional media and color it digitally and still keep your original lineart from the piece. idefk.

Oh and that Amy is the cutest Amy I've ever laid my eyes on. <33 Awww.

And "u shuld droo what u wont to droo".

I read this and I know how you feel.
It takes guts to stick to a loose style when there are hundreds of people online who are better at realistic stuff.

But being unique is valuable too.

I think I know what you mean, a little. Drawing straight to PC and drawing on paper are different too. Even when I do a rough pencil sketch and then ink over it, it just doesn't feel the same. I tend to lose my "personality," as you said, when I draw digitally or at least when I do pencils and then ink them. I love most of the things in my sketch book more than I do the finished pencils and inks. Something about the lines and shapes that make my sketches come more to life and they somehow capture more of my personality or originality or style somehow. Also, the same things that take me only minutes to draw on paper will take me FOREVER to draw with my Wacom on the computer screen. Which is why I don't draw straight to PC anymore! lol

but paying attnetion to stuff you write is fun!

All jokes and prodding aside, cool stuff. It's fun to free form and do sketches. No constantly trying to make perfect lines and other stuff. gives it more character and a natural feeling!

You're right. Absolutely. I've noticed that I feel more inclined to draw things that I feel the people of DeviantArt would like instead of just drawing whatever I want. I really think though, that a lot of that urge to not let anyone down by using these programs is what the educational system taught us to do. Use this not that; do this not that. Where's the creativity, really?
